Healthcare organizations across the United States are warning patients about a phishing campaign impersonating Epic’s MyChart patient portal.
Fraudulent emails and text messages reportedly advertise offers such as a “MyChart Medicare Kit” or “Senior Health Package.” Recipients are encouraged to click links that may be designed to steal personal or financial information.
At least 30 health systems have warned patients about the campaign, according to Becker’s Hospital Review. Epic has indicated that the scam is exploiting recognition of the MyChart name rather than resulting from a security problem with the MyChart platform itself.
